Hello there cats and kittens.
So... What to say? Well, I went to see Sigur Ros at the Santa Barbara Bowl with my dad yesterday. Now how do I put this... It was by far the most exciting and incredible concert I've ever experienced. I mean, yeah Creature Feature was my first concert and it was awesome, but this was a whole new level of awesome. Sigur Ros' music hits me right in the soul, and this was an amazing experience for me.
Here's how it played out: I was keeping track of Sigur Ros' Spring Tour, and saw that they were going to play in Santa Barbara on April 19th, that was the perfect day because for me it was after school and near by where I live. The only thing was to get my parents to drive me and pay for my ticket. I first asked my mom, but she's afraid to drive on the freeway during rush hour. So I asked my dad and I gave him time to think about it. He agreed later and got one of his clients, who handles tickets for concerts, and got us some good tickets for a couple of seats in the mid section. We ran into traffic by the time we reached Oxnard, but after that it was pretty clear. Once we arrived in Santa Barbara, it got pretty congested. I was surprised at the line of cars leading the Santa Barbara Bowl. I honestly did not know how well known Sigur Ros was around here. I knew Sigur Ros was pretty famous internationally, but I just assumed that only so many people living close to where I live knew about Sigur Ros. I know I was wrong now.
From the moment Sigur Ros started playing, I knew I wasn't gonna be able to explain well of everything I heard. If you look up Sigur Ros' live performances online, it captures a fair lot of Sigur Ros' music, sound, and whatnot, but now I see it doesn't capture the moment. The experience is indescribably beautiful. I hope that everyone willing to listen will get the chance one day, because it is incredible. A few people kept walking around in the section in front of me, but all I needed to do was close my eyes and listen. Just hearing them was all I needed to have an amazing time. Of course, I did snap a some photos of them. If I couldn't capture the moment, at least I could capture my experience and hold the memory in both ways: my mind and in a photograph. (I also bought myself a t-shirt, but that doesn't matter for this moment.)
I don't need to be told of how lucky I am, or how jealous one may be. I only wish to share my thoughts of my experience, wondering if someone who comes by this journal entry will grow curious enough to look up Sigur Ros to see for his or her self. Because their music is, indeed, beautiful, and inspiring for me and for others. They are the reason for my group, #
TheHopelandicClub, so people who are inspired to share their creativity can come together. Sigur Ros has made a huge influence on me, and I hope they live bright days continuing to inspire others.
That is all I have to say, I shall type to you cats and kittens again soon.
